Ingredients:
- 1 lb. dry navy beans, or great northern beans 2.25 cups
- 2 cups BrothMaster Bone Broth
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1 cup strained tomatoes
- 3 tablespoons tomato paste
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons dark molasses (optional)
- 2 yellow onion, diced
- 1 tsp baking soda
Instructions:
Soak the Beans, (2 ways):

Method 1: Place the beans in a large bowl and cover with 2-inches of cold water 1 tsp baking soda. Soak for 8-12 hours, then drain and rinse.

Method 2: Place beans in a large pot and cover with 1-inch of water, 1 tsp baking soda. Bring it to a boil, then remove it from the heat. Let it soak for 1 hour. Soaking the beans properly helps them absorb the mineral-rich broth more effectively, making this recipe both hearty and nutrient-dense.

Saute onions in soup pot until just starting to brown. Add the beans , BrothMaster bone broth and water until just covering the beans.

Do not add the tomato products until beans are softened, the acid will harden the beans.

Simmer until the beans are softened about 45 minutes. The long-simmered bone broth infuses the beans with the highest calcium content in the industry, making them perfect for gut health and overall wellness.

Add ketchup, strained tomatoes, tomato paste, brown sugar, molasses (optional) simmer for about 30 minutes.

Transfer into an oven safe low sided pan like a 3 or 4 quart Pyrex.

Cover and put in the oven. Check after an hour add water if necessary.

Bake at 325 degrees for 2 hours
